Utah 5th and Under Rodeo Association Rules 2024-2025

We will follow the UHSRA/NHSRA rules with the following exceptions (it is the contestant and parent’s responsibility to know the rulebook.) https://www.nhsra.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/2018-2020-NHSRA-Rulebook.pdf

*There will be a 45 second time limit for EVERY event.

*Breakaway will be 1 loop at qualifying rodeos, and 2 loops at State Finals (can either rebuild or carry 2 loops). 2 loops allowed for both days of the Finals.

*Team Roping will be Adult-Child, 45 second time limit, 3 loops at all qualifying rodeos and State Finals. Time will be flagged when dallied rope comes tight on heels, do not have to turn and face. Points will only be kept for 5th and Under members who are entered as a Header or a Heeler. Members can change sides throughout the year but can only enter one side per rodeo. Points will not be carried over and will only be accumulated as Header Points and Heeler Points.

*Team Roping and Breakaway will have an electric barrier, with a 4 under score. Time will be started when the cattle crosses the electric barrier and there will be a +10 second penalty if contestant exits the roping box before the cattle crosses the electric barrier.

*All points will count for event leaders. Each event in each rodeo is worth up to 10 points (Scored like JR High and High School rules). If other rodeos are added they will be counted. All points will be carried towards year end prizes. EXAMPLE Making total points possible =

Season Rodeos 100 points (if 10 rodeos) + Finals long go (10 Points) + Short Go (10 Points) + Average Points (10 points) = 130 Points possible (May add an additional go at state finals for an additional 10 points depending on season and schedule)

*Awards to event winners. All Around awards will be given to the Boy and Girl contestant with the highest total points from all rodeos and the Finals. Awards will be awarded to the Top 10 in each event.

*Tie breakers will be decided by best performance at the Finals.

*Helmets are required in the Steer Riding event.

*Everything beyond that will be covered in the NHSRA rulebook.

*Western Attire is required for ALL contestants in the Rodeos and anyone assisting with the rodeo and contestants. Disqualifications due to lack of western attire will be at the discretion of the Board Members and Judges.

*Anyone can enter State Finals. There will be one long go on Friday and a short go on Saturday and Average points will be calculated from the long and short go together. The Finals entry form will be one form & will be $30.00 per event. Prizes will be awarded approximately 30 minutes after the Finals short go round. Each club will have an assignment for the Finals.

**Information, results and standings will be posted on the website www.Ut5thandunderrodeo.com
